Raised in Sebring, OH, Bret was into music at a very young age. Getting his first drum set at age 3, learned to play the marching cadences the high school band played for the football games. In grade school, picked up trumpet/coronet and continued to play the brass into junior high. As a young teen, he found his roots deep in rock and metal, decided to trade in the brass for the guitar. At age 15, he bought his first Harmony guitar package out of a Fingerhut catalog. Thus started a journey to a lifelong passion of playing music and creating sonic palettes of sounds ranging from classical and jazz to new age sound effects and solo guitar work. Bret learned several instruments growing up and after learning some music theory has found it easier to transpose music to each instrument. Playing around 20 instruments, states guitar is his favorite due to it's versatility and expressive capabilities. Bret owns several guitars and amps and likes to play challenging, new, creative, thought-provoking music. In 2002, Bret faced a horrific industrial accident at his job while making sandpaper, leaving his life and ability to ever play music again, hanging in the balance. His fervant faith in God grew stronger and after being miraculously healed & doing months of rehabilitative therapy, plays better than he did before despite Dr.'s telling him he'd never play again. Bret now has a new found passion for his music and for spreading the Word of Jesus Christ to the world. A solo artist currently, doing primarily virtuoso style instrumentals, has his own flare and flavor of music that sets him apart from other artists with a wide span of styles and genres. Blazing leads, melodic phrases and complex chords are common in his well thought out music. With strong influences from many artists and composers such as J.S.Bach, Mozart, Franz Liszt, Bob Culbertson, Michael Angelo Batio, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, George Benson, Eric Clapton and the list goes on...he leaves no stone unturned for inspiration. Bret has a unique style that is his own with a very one-man-band approach to his shows. Using only his guitars, backing tracks and his hands, creates a full arrangement that is a sight to behold. Currently living in North Canton, Bret plans to expand further out and take his music and message as fas as it can be taken....only time will tell how far that really is.
